FC Cologne of Germany striker, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure is still basking in delight over his astonishing debut for The Billy Goats last weekend in the German Bundesliga, with a wonder goal to show for his efforts, and one of his teammates recounts how they played in opposing teams during their time in Belgium.
Megasportsarena.com reports that this is the memory held by Belgium international, Sebastiaan Bornauw, who recalled how he always tried to outshine Bonaventure as a rival back in his home country, but admitted they will now have to share ideas now that the Nigerian lad has joined him on loan from Club Brugge.
Bonaventure was brought into Cologne’s squad to contribute in saving The Billy Goats from the drop this season, and Bornauw has now declared profound confidence in the Nigerian star’s ability to help their team avoid relegation from the German Bundesliga, even as they entered last weekend’s round of matches just two points from safety.
Bornauw told Het laatste Nieuws: “I am glad that he is here: when I was with Anderlecht I thought he was a good player at the time – I told the coach that when he asked of my opinion – told him he can certainly teach us something. He is welcome.
“We were enemies, now we will try to become friends. I will help him where I can. In Germany, discipline is an automatic part of the game, but what really counts is that Dennis is performing well;” while Cologne chief executive, Horst Heldt added: “We are convinced that Emmanuel Dennis and Max Meyer can help us to stay in the league.”
