Akwa United of Uyo coach, Kennedy Boboye has promised to outline a different formation for hiss die’s second leg fixture in the CAF Champions League against CR Belouizdad of Algeria, as he aims to catch he opponents unawares.
Bobobye admitted that his side’s 1-0 victory over the Algerian side was too close to call and not big enough, but he opined that it would be better to keep a clean slate in the second leg and maintain what they already have.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, with that notion in mind, the ex-international striker and former coach of Plateau United of Jos declared emphatically that The Promise Keepers will go to Algeria with an intent to lay the spoiler against their hosts.
Although the first-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions needed an 87th minute goal by Ubong Friday to edge past the Algerians on Sunday in Uyo, Boboye added that his expectation are that his team can defend the slim advantage.
He enthused that they will get a decent result during the reverse fixture in Algeria and advance to the next stage, even as he parried a boast by the Algerian club’s coach, Beketi Karim that his side will overturn Sunday’s first leg loss to victory at home.
Boboye submitted: “If we can’t score (in the return leg), let’s try to keep the one we have. We will go there with a different formation and if we play to instruction, we will perform well.”
