Leganes of Spain new loan singing, Chidozie Awaziem has promised to give his very best efforts, in order to justify the club’s agreement to receive him from FC Porto of Portugal, megasportsarena.com reports.
While also thanking fellow-Super Eagles’ defender, Kenneth Omeruo for the role he played in making the loan switch possible, Awaziem said he will work very hard to make high marks with the Spanish La Liga side.
Following his arrival from Oporto early last week, Awaziem was formally introduced to the club and their fans on Wednesday, after which he was handed jersey number 12 for the new season.
The hairy defender, who was a revelation at right-back or Nigeria at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, disclosed further during unveiling ceremony by ID Butarque that Omeruo and Porto’s iconic goalkeeper, Iker Casillas both convinced him to join Leganes.
Awaziem said: “I spoke to Omeruo, he is my teammate in the national team. He mentioned things about the club, explained the system, told me about the players, how Leganés is.
”I talked to Casillas. I saw him and he congratulated me on my arrival in Leganés, he was very happy. He told me that it is a good move for me.
”I want to thank the club for the confidence had on me. I am very happy to be here. (My new) teammates welcomed me very well.
“They are very good players. There is the language problem but I will try to adapt as soon as possible. I will do my best to have a good season and help the club.”
