It looks as though it will indeed come down to the final matchday of the group stage to determine who earns top spot in Group D.
Both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich punched their tickets to the knockout round of the Champions League on Tuesday, the Spanish side getting two goals from Antoine Griezmann to defeat Rostov, while the Bavarian giant got a brace from Robert Lewandowski to overturn an early deficit against PSV.
With two matches remaining in the tournament's opening round, Atletico sits atop the group, three points clear of Bayern.
The European behemoths remain on a collision course for the Allianz Arena, where a Dec. 6 meeting will likely decide who goes into the Round of 16 draw with a more favourable outlook.
More to come.
