Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala has admitted sheer delight at being selected among the club’s stars to join their male counterparts in modeling The Catalans’ latest set of new jersey designs for the season, and declared that it will bring out the ‘fire’ in her, megasportsarena.com reports.
Having put behind them the disappointment of failing to reach the Women UEFA Champions League final for the second season running, following their loss to VfL Wolfsburg of Germany in the semi-finals last month, Oshoala and her colleagues looked hilarious and resplendent as they modeled Barca’s third kit for the 2020/21 season.
Monday’s outing by Oshoala and the other players marked a climax in the process that began on July 12, when Oshoala took part in the presentation of Barcelona’s home kit for the 2020/21 season; with a select few of the club’s male and female stars showing off the new kits that are again designed by American sportswear manufacturing giants, Nike.
The second step was on the 31st of same month, when Oshoala was again one of the top players picked to model the away jersey that will also be used for this season; and she joined the male quartet of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquet, Gerard Pique and Antoine Griezmann for the event.
Nike disclosed that the new away kit for 2020/21 season, which are also as usual designed in Catalonia’s national colours, are inspired by the electric atmosphere of Barcelona by night, complete with black shorts bearing the club’s iconic badge in gold and the socks are also black and have the Barca crest in gold, while the jerseys are made from recycled polyster from plastic bottles.
For Monday’s event, Oshoala was selected alongside Messi, Ansu Fati and Frenkie De Jong to specially unveil the club’s new pink kit attire, with the 25-year-old Nigerian women national team, Super Falcons’ captain looking radiant while posing with the latest range of designs for the upcoming campaign, during which ‘Super Zee’ will hope to help her side retain their title in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola.
She was also highlighted in a rotating video shoot as Barcelona took to their official social media handle to unveiled the third away kit for the season; which the female squad will begin against newly-promoted Elche on Saturday in a rehash of the pink kit that they earlier donned for the 2018/19 contest, but now laced further with dark green shorts as well as green and pink socks.
Oshoala admitted it was a big occasion to be part of and took to social media to reveal her glee while also hinting that she will work hard to ensure the team win well with the new garb, as she posted curtly on social media: “This jersey is giving us Fire.”
