Nigerian-born basketball ace, Giannis Adetokunbo (Antetokounmpo) marked his birthday with a haul of 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Milwaukee Bucks to their 14th straight victory of the season in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA) league, as his side romped to a blow-out 119-91 rout of Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night.
Megasportsasrena.com reports that, while making hay on his 25th birthday, Antetokounmpo executed 11 of 20 shots and recorded his 21st double-double of the season, as The Bucks showed themselves to be in a class of their own, with only few other conclusions to get from their annihilation of a Clippers team that had their main superstars active in the game, but they ended up without any excuses.
At one point, Bucks were up by more than 40 points, as they dominated a team with one of the best benches in the league, even when last season’s most valuable player and already leading candidate for an encore, Antetokounmpo was out of the game.
At the end of it all, Antetokounmpo had another strong night with 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, but he was only +7 in a 28-point win, as Bucks outscored The Clippers by 21 points, with their best player on the bench.
Five other members of the Milwaukee team hit double-digits in scoring, their bench outscored the Clippers’ 50-38 and The Bucks have now won their 14th straight game, a streak could go on quite a bit longer when they face their next four opponents: Orlando Magic, New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Their upcoming fixtures also include Luka Doncic and Dallas Mavericks, then Los Angeles Lakers, which is quite possibly the only team other than Milwaukee that has an argument for best team in the league, against all of which Antetokounmpo will aim to reward The Bucks’ fans for their ‘happy birthday’ chants for him during Friday’s game.
Antetokopunmpo stated afterwards that he was really thrilled by the chants, while Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers added a personal joke to acknowledge how stunning ‘The Greek Freak’ had once again been against his side, saying: “I was 25 once, but I wasn’t that good.”
