Summer signing at Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia, Faustino Anjorin is desperately in search of opportunities that will see him play regular with the Russian Premier League outfit, hence his decision to accept a loan exit from Chelsea of England.
Megasportsarena.com reports that this revelation has been provided by a renowned sports writer, Paul Brown, who is highly respected for his contributions with British tabloid, The Mirror.
The 19-year-old Anjorin has already started showing in training with his new teammates what he can offer during his time at the Moscow-based side, and Brown is reeling lyrical already ahead of the lad’s potential debut against Krylya Sovetov on Saturday.
While also revealing that undercurrent that saw the Nigerian-born England youth international leave Chelsea for the deal in Russia, Brown disclosed that Anjorin has is already exciting his new club’s president, Ralf Rangnick, who likened the lad to Manchester City star, Kevin De Bruyne.
This revelation comes after Anjorin joined The Railwaymen on loan for remainder of the season, with an option for them to buy him outright at 20 million euro, which Brown says came about simply because the youngster felt it was best for him.
He opted for the loan deal since he was not assured first team opportunities since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea’s coach, and the emergent icon ended up missing a large part of pre-season training due to issues with coronavirus.
Although he has been used mostly as a winger during his limited outings with Chelsea, especially during the days of Frank Lampard as the gaffer, Anjorin excelled as a box-to-box midfielder in his schoolboy years, which Brown believes he can replicate with regular game time in Russia.
Brown told Sport24: “Lampard had high hopes for him and thought that Tino deserved a chance in the first team, but with the arrival of Tuchel, everything changed.
“Although Thomas promised to give him a chance this season, Anjorin missed the opportunity to impress by picking up the Covid and missing the camp.
“Then he had a telephone conversation with Rangnick. He constantly mentioned that Anjorin is very similar to De Bruyne.
“Ralf impressed him and convinced him to move to Lokomotiv. Rangnik promised him a key role in the Moscow club. I think that Anjorin had other options in England.
“There he could not be guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup every week. And this is exactly what he wants now – to play constantly.”
