SV Hamburg of Germany’s summer signing, Xavier Amaechi has promised that he will put in his very best and work hard to excel with his new club, as he wants to take his career to a higher plane, megasportsarena.com reports.
After failing to get into the main team at Arsenal of England, which he joined as a kid, Amaechi is now thinking big, and wants to justify more than the €2.5m fee that took him to Hamburg last month.
The 18 year-old, who moved permanently from Arsenal to HSV, admitted that the German lower division club’s sports director, Michael Mutzel was key to his decision to accept Hamburg’s offer and he now wants to help them win promotion back to the German Bundesliga this season.
Amaechi disclosed at length: “It has been clear to me since January that I wanted to go to HSV.
“Michael told me a lot about HSV. And he was very honest with me, he did not just tell the great stuff.
“At home in London, I lived in a bubble, I wanted that step up. I believe in myself, I’m going to work damn hard, that’s crucial.
“Hamburg is the best option because I have the chance to develop further here. Also as a human.”
