Real Madrid of Spain Nigerian-born youngster, Marvin Akinlabi Park is facing stiff competition for a shirt with the Los Blancos’ youth team, as three players are currently rated ahead of him, and one of them, Jordi Martín scored a marvelous goal last weekend.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, while Akinlabi is still battling to find his rhythm, and had to play as a substitute, Jordi hit top marks with the reserves’ squad on Sunday.
Akinlabi actually got his debut for team, officially knowsn as Castilla, on the evening, but he failed to sparkle in a game that saw his settle for a a 1-1 draw with Las Rozas in the third-tier league.
The attacking midfielder got off Castilla’s bench in the 68th minute, but his status in the squad might have been undermined by his inability to get into the highlights of the Segunda B fixture against newly promoted opponents at Estadio Navalcarbón.
Akinlabi’s side went down in the 48th minute, but his main rival for a shirt, Jordi equalised for Real Madrid in the 55th minute, leaving him to worry more about the other contending duo of Francisco Feuillassier and César Gelabert, who are all jostling for a spots with him in midfield.
The 19-year-old Akinlabi, who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2016, after spells with Sporting Ciutat de Palma, Tranmere Rovers, La Salle and Es Jonquet Penya Arrabal, will now have to step up his efforts in order to pull off better performances in subsequent matches.
