Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Fulham winger, Ademola Lookman were both in top form for their respective clubs on Boxing Day and helped their sides enact remarkable results in the English Premier League, megasportsarena.com reports.
While Ndidi twinkled in a 2-2 draw at home against Manchester United, Lookman was at his best for The Cottagers, as the former Everton of England and RB Leipzig of Germany lad combined with Cameroon midfielder, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa to help Fulham secure a goalless draw at home against Southampton.
Lookman was a dominant force in The Cottagers’ attack and he was involved in half of the 10 shots they registered, with two attempts at goal and he created three more opportunities for his teammates but they could not find the back of the net.
However, tried as he did, Lookman, who has returned two goals and two assists in 12 EPL appearances since he returned to England on a season-long loan from Leipzig in September, could not get a goal for the hosts, who settled for a barren ending with The Saints.
On his part, Ndidi produced yet another five-star performance in a draw with visiting United, as he continued from his fantastic display against Tottenham Hotspur last week, when he made amazing 17 recoveries.
The 24-year-old former Racing Genk of Belgium star also started his sixth EPL game of the season, but he could not curtail the visitors, who were the brighter side from the start and could have gone ahead after just two minutes but Marcus Rashford headed high with the goal at his mercy.
Rashford then made amends for his miss to put The Red Devils ahead on 23 minutes keeping his composure to fire home from a split pass from Bruno Fernandes, after which Ndidi then helped Leicester back into the game.
He disposed Fernandes after the half hour mark before feeding James Maddison who then squared for Harvey Barnes to release a superb left foot to make it 1-1, second half substitute Edison Cavani then set up the Portuguese sensation to make it 2-1 for United on 79 minutes, but the hosts stole a late point five minutes from time when Axel Tuanzebe conceded an own goal.
AOIFootball.com noted: “The game further solidifies Ndidi’s supremacy as the best defensive midfielder in the EPL as he made 7 tackles, the most by any Leicester City player, earning a game rating of 7.1, completing 83% of his passes, winning 10 duels, and also making 3 interceptions.”
