SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen appears to be heading for an unexpected longer spell out with a shoulder injury, as latest reports out of The Land of The Azzurri indicate that the earliest time of his expected return is now December 20, megasportsarena.com gathered.
In contrast with initial reports that the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman would bounce back quickly from a shoulder dislocation he copped on national team duty last month, Osimhen is now in a race against time in order to be certified fit just before Christmas.
While the youngster denied reports that his club’s doctors have blamed medics in the Super Eagles for not handling the injury properly, a lot of untold secrets and undercurrents appear rolling over the freak injury, which he got while falling awkwardly during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with Sierra Leone that ended in a 4-4 draw at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
Incidentally, Osimhen had scored Nigeria’s second goal in that game before bowing out, but he went on to miss the reverse fixture and five matches on the bounce for his club, thereby further raising concern about his chances of playing again this year.
Sadly, Osimhen has now been rated doubtful for Napoli’s next three matches, even as this Sunday will make it one month the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and top scorer last played for club and country, after being forced off in the second half of Nigeria’s draw with Sierra Leone.
In Osimhen’s absence, Napoli have managed to win three games, drew one and lost the other without their most expensive acquisition ever in history, but RAI journalist, Ciro Venerato has now come out with startling information that the prized asset will miss three more games of his Naples-based side.
Venerato told Radio Kiss Kiss that Osimhen will not be available for this Thursday’s Europa League clash with Real Sociedad of Spain, while the 21-year-old rising star is also unlikely to feature in Napoli’s next two Serie A fixtures against Sampdoria this Sunday and Inter Milan in midweek.
However, should Osimhen’s rehabilitation go according to plan, he would be in contention to be included in The Blues’ matchday squad that will play away to SS Lazio at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico five days before Christmas.
