Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen has been hit with a formal £75m summer transfer bid, as the scramble by some of Europe’s big clubs for the 21-year-old fast-rising star enters the crucial stage, and officials at his club are facing up to the reality that they are bound to lose him at the end of this season.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although details of the first official offer thrown at Lille are yet to emerge, reports across Europe indicate that it is no longer mere speculation that a massive scramble is on for Osimhen, who has been in impressive form during his first ever season in the French Ligue 1.
With 13 goals in the domestic league and 18 across all competitions, in 38 appearances, among which are two strikes in the UEFA Champions League, Osimhen is the kid on the block many top clubs want this summer, with links already coming his way from six EPL sides, four in the Italian Serie A and another four in the Spanish LaLiga.
Among his many admirers are Leicester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool of England, who have all been strongly linked with the ex-VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium whiz-kid in recent days, while similar attention is also coming from AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli of Italy, as well as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia of Spain.
A report at the end of last week claimed that Liverpool were planning a double swoop on the French top-flight side for both Osimhen and his club’s youthful midfielder, Boubakary Soumare, but Telefoot has now added that Lille have received a formal bid of £75m including bonuses for the Nigerian youngster, but nothing specific is stated about the suitors in question.’
It is now a case of conjecture to know which of the 14 suitors want him most, for them to have made the first of any daring move to grab him this summer and, although the first to make their intentions official has not been identified by the publication, the race is surely on for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalist, who scored 20 times for Charleroi before joining Lille.
This comes hot on the heel of additional information that Liverpool are exploring a double raid for Osimhen and his Lille teammate, Boubakary Soumare, with both players worth a combined estimate of £110million.
The report by French publication, Le 10 Sport stated that both players have been watched by Liverpool’s top scouts, who have now recommended a quick move for the duo, in order to ward off similar interest from other clubs in the English several Premier League.c
Scouts from Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea are also following Osimhen, who is valued at around £60m, while Soumare is expected to cost around £50m mark, with The Magpies already seen as closest to possibly signing him.
