SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has received stern warning from the club’s coach Gennaro Gattuso, who stressed that the youngster must not get carried away by rave reviews trailing his heroics so early after his arrival from Lille Metropole of France.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Gattuso’s warning comes hot on the heel of reports that Osimhen is now being regarded as ‘Mr. Hat Trick’ among Napoli’s fans, following his feat of hitting three goals in each of their last two pre-season friendly matches.
It took the last two Friday’s apiece for Osimhen to net six goals in his first two matches for Gil Azzurri, after which the Italian Serie A club’s fans dubbed their club’s record signing ‘Mr. hat-trick’ in celebration of his stunning heroics with the team.
This comes barely a month after Napoli signed the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium forward from Lille in a deal said to be worth an initial €70m, and Osimhen quickly got on song four minutes into his very first game for Gattuso’s side.
After his debut hat-trick when Napoli demolished L’Aquila 11-0 the previous Friday, Osimhen then struck another treble in last weekend’s 4-0 victory against Teramo, following which Italian newspaper, ll Roma reported that his form is driving Napoli fans into frenzy.
While many of the Naples-based side’s are already talking about Osimhen leading their team to the 2020/21 Serie A title, Italian daily, La Gazzetta dello Sport added that the Super Eagles’ youngster has already found a posh home for himself in the chic neighborhood of Posillipo.
He promptly moved in after the pre-season drills at Castel di Sangro, where Napoli’s squad took further steps in their preparations for the new season, but he had to first put up in a hotel while awaiting finishing touches in the renovation of his new home in Posillipo.
Ahead of his Serie A debut against AC Parma next weekend, Osimhen who will live with his girlfriend, Stephanie, at his new home in Posillipo, will now turn attention on full training with his teammates, after logging a total of two hours in both recent friendly matches.
In the wake of the latest of those games, ll Roma disclosed that Napoli’s teaming fans threw safety and health cautions to the wind as they flooded L’Aquilla to see the new arrival in action, and the newspaper added on their on Sunday cover: “Osimhen, mister hat-trick. Fans already crazy about Victor.”
However, the club’s gaffer is suing for caution and, although he admitted he has been impressed with Osymhen’s form, Gattuso advised the youngster not to relax in his efforts and ensure he does everything to maintain his form, in order to replicate his pre-season performances.
Gattuso told Radio Kiss Kiss: “Osimhen is a quiet guy who has to work a lot. He has a lot of physicality, but he doesn’t have to be satisfied. The goals he scores right now don’t count for anything, but he fits in very well with the team. He jokes with everyone and makes himself loved.”
