Spartak Moscow of Russia winger, Victor Moses has been described as a ‘high-level footballer,’ who is capable of helping the Russian Premier League club turn their dwindling fortunes around, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although many Spartak fans are already slamming Moses for failing to ignite heroics with the team and now criticizing the club for receiving him on loan from Chelsea of England, a leading pundit in the country thinks otherwise.
Spartak Moscow have picked up two wins, two draws and suffered one loss against Rostov at the end of last month since Moses joined the capital club, thereby leaving their fans fuming but, in contrast with the supporters’ caustic words, Russian football pundit, Ilya Kazakov is making a case for the former Super Eagles’ star.
He went on to defend the club’s signing of Moses in the summer transfer window, which he likened to the deal that took another Nigerian winger, Chidera Ejuke to Spartak’s local rivals, CSKA Moscow, adding that he fully understands the undercurrents that saw the winger-cum-wing-back join the Muscovites on loan for remainder of the season.
While the arrivals of Moses and two other players in Oston Urunov and Aleksandr Kokorin from Ufa and Zenit St. Petersburg respectively have been criticized in some quarters, Kazakov countered that they are all cost-effective signings and the TV commentator added that he is support of the Moscow-based club’s decisions.
Kazakov told Sport Express: “The club has been criticized for acquiring Oston Urunov, Victor Moses and Kokorin. But little money has been spent on them. At the same time, Moses plays quite well. It can be seen that this is a high-level footballer.
“As for Kokorin, the problems most likely lie in the field of psychology. Much is expected of him. Look at CSKA coming in first, having bought Adolfo Gaich, Bruno Fuchs and Chidera Ejuke. It is even difficult to imagine what they would say about Spartak if it strengthened for a lot of money with these three.”
