Chelsea of England striker, Tammy Abraham has declared that he will not return to action until he is 100% fit, as he does not want a relapse of the injury that has ruled him out since the start of the year, megasportsarena.com reports.
The Nigerian-born hitman admitted he is missing the game, and will once again be absent for this weekend’s English Premier League fixture against Everton, but Abraham says rushing back to action is not good in the long term.
With that in mind, the former Bristol City, Swansea City and Aston Villa top scorer is reedy to sit out for as long as is required on him, as he insists he will not rush himself back from his ongoing recovery process for an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old England international suffered the injury late in a game against Arsenal on January 21 but he never let it fully recover and tried to play on, only for it to flare up during The Blues’ players’ warm-down after their UEFA Champions League game against Bayern Munich of Germany at Stamford Bridge.
Nonetheless, Abraham was handed a boost after being told by a specialist in Barcelona that he will not require surgery and, though he has not played for Chelsea since coming off the bench in the loss to Bayern he is not in a hurry to get back, though he admits he wants to be fit enough to be in Gareth Southgate’s squad for games against Italy and Denmark ahead of Euro 2020.
Abraham said: “I’m almost fit. There’s still a bit to do. I’ll get there soon. It’s a recurrence. It is still like a swollen ball really but it is getting better day by day. This time, I just said “I’ll just come back when I’m 100 per cent” instead of coming back and going again.
“The club wanted me to go to Barcelona. They just wanted different eyes, a different mindset on this situation. He told me what was wrong; exactly what the Chelsea physios said and he recommended some stuff for me to do. I’m doing physio right now.”
