SV Mainz of Germany striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has received a strong offer that could make him move to another club in Deutschland, as his current club’s fellow German Bundesliga side, VfB Stuttgart are reportedly interested in hooking his signature ahead of the new season, megasportsarena.com gathered.
However, megasportsarena.com gathered further that Stuttgart are not alone in the summer frenzy swirling round Awoniyi, as Royal Antwerp of Belgium are also keen on luring him back to the country where he previously played on loan from Liverpool of England twice at Royal Excel Mouscron and half-a-season with KAA Gent.
However, with memories of how he struggled at Gent before hurrying back to Mouscron after just half a season two years ago, Awoniyi might not fancy taking up the offer from Antwerp, such that he could instead be on his way sometime this month from Mainz to Stuttgart, who are back in the Bundesliga after spending last season in the lower division.
The 23-year-old Awoniyi also has an option to consider from Celtic of Scotland, who had also been impressed by his efforts with Mainz after the restart of action in the Bundesliga following an initial halt caused by the outbreak of coronavirus.
However, a strong hint has emerged from Mainz that the club’s top brass are also thinking seriously about keeping Awoniyi for the new season; even as sources close to the former Golden Eaglets, Flying Eagles and Olympic Eagles’ star admit he is set for yet another loan deal from Liverpool, as The reds have not been able to get him a British work permit.
