SV Mainz of Germany striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has received useful technical tips from Liverpool of England coach, Jurgen Klopp, as the Nigerian former youth international turned up for training with his parent club, megasportsarena.com reports
Although Awoniyi cannot be registered for the season with The Reds, as he is not qualified for a British Work Permit, the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist is making use of the holiday to keep himself fit with the Merseyside outfit.
That saw him line out alongside the like of as Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk during training under Klopp’s wily eyes at Melwood, with the Liverpool manager excitedly running the rule over Awoniyi and spotted personally giving the lad some crucial one-on-one tips that could help him in the new season.
Incidentally, Awoniyi was assigned kit number 47 as a provisional spot for the training session, but knew he would not be listed for their opening match of the season against Leeds United on Saturday at Anfield, as he is yet to overcome the work permit obstacle that has led to him being sent on loan severally since first signing for The Reds in 2014.
That obstacle has seen Awoniyi spend time on loan at FSV Frankfurt of Germany, NEC Nijmegen of Holland as well as Royal Excel Mouscron and KAA Gent of Belgium, before moving in a similar deal to his current base at Mainz; but another of such transactions now appears on the cards for him yet again.
