Racing Genk of Belgium attacker, Stephen Odey is facing the possibility of a loan exit from the Jupiler League club before the transfer window closes on Friday, but the move would depend on the availability of a willing club to agree to a deal with his current team officials, megasportsarena.com reports.
The need for a loan deal outside Genk has become imperative for Odey, due to his inability to tie down a regular shirt in the main squad, where fellow-Nigerian, Paul Ebere Onuachu is enjoying a fixed run in attack, well ahead of the former Mountain of Fiore & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos wonder kid, who last played for FC Zurich of Switzerland.
However, with Odey yet to meet all expectations since his arrival from Zürich in the summer of 2-019, the youngster has received a strong hint of moving out on loan from Genk in the coming hours, despite his contract with the club still running until 2024.
Dramatically, despite having earlier netted in the has scored in both the Belgian Cup and UEFA Champions League few months after his arrival at Genk, the 22-year-old Odey has failed to score in seven outings with the club in the Jupiler League, and a close source to the player admitted the officials are thinking of shipping him out to a lower rated side before this month ends.
The source told SCORENigeria: “He is not the top player they thought they signed. They may therefore be forced to send him out on loan while considering what next.”
