Manchester United of England youth team striker, Shola Shoretire was on song with a goal for the third day running, as he netted another beauty in action with The Red Devils’ under-23 squad, megasportsarena.com reports.
Shoretire made hay on Friday with a goal in the UEFA Youth League and then returned with another sizzler on Tuesday, as his side battled against the under-19 squad from Young Boys of Switzerland.
It was the opening day of the competition and Shoretire went the full 90 minutes against the Swiss opponents, but Maximilano Oyedele and Dillon Hoogewerf were omitted from United’s matchday squad for the game.
While Hoogewerf has not featured for United’s youth since he was sent packing from Netherlands’ U19s training camp for repeatedly reporting late to training late, Shoretire is on a rise and scored the game-winning goal when he found the net from close range after 14 minutes.
The Nigerian-born England youth international was for a year the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Youth League, aged 14 years, 10 months and 10 days, when he made his debut for United versus Valencia of Spain on December 12, 2018.
The record was broken by Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko in September 2019, but Shoretire is still going strong with The Red Devils, while Bryan Fiabema played as a 77th minute substitute with Chelsea of England for his debut in the UEFA Youth League.
Fiabema helped The Blues storm from behind to beat Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia 3-1 at Cobham Training Centre in London, with three second half goals, but former Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke was not dressed.
Also absent from Chelsea’s squad was the Nigerian-born trio of Richard Olise, Derrick Abu and Tudor Mendel-Idowu, as they were not named for the opening group game against the Russian side.
