West Bromwich Albion of England defender, Semi Ajayi has admitted he felt a strong sense of relish and delight after scoring his first ever goal in the English Premier League, but he has now turned his attention on doing better in Tuesday’s game against Leeds United.
Ajayi enters the last fixture of 2020 in upbeat mood, after he struck a late equalizer that helped Albion pull off a shock draw away to Liverpool on Sunday, and he former Rotherham United versatile lad acknowledged how emotional he got afterwards.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the Super Eagles’ youngster felt on top of the world, after he sank home his first EPL goal to deny Liverpool three points at Anfield, after Sadio Mane scored his 69th goal for The Reds 12 minutes into the encounter.
While the Senegalese star moved level with Luis Suarez on the eternal goals charts at The Kop, it was a different kind of delight for Ajayi, who had earlier in the month been denied his first EPL goal away to Manchester City by a serious deflection.
He eventually broke his duck on Sunday, when his header ten minutes from the final whistle cancelled out Mane’s early strike and ensured that The Baggies had their excellent second-half rewarded, following which Ajayi took to social media to celebrate his first Premier League goal.
However, Ajayi admitted he is not happy that West Brom remain second from bottom on the log and deep in relegation zone, with a mere eight points from 15 matches, hence his determination to put up another brilliant show when they welcome Leeds to The Hawthorns on Tuesday.
Ajayi, who scored 15 goals in 108 appearances across all competitions for Rotherham, averaging a goal every 601 minutes, and has now directly participated in a goal every 867 minutes for WBA after 59 games overall, posted on Instagram: “FIRST PREMIER LEAGUE GOAL! ⚽️ GOD IS GREAT 🙏🏾❤️.”
