FC Lugano of Switzerland goalkeeper, Sebatine Osigwe has come out with a heartwarming revelation that he did jnot struggle to adapt to eating Nigerian meals during his recent debut camping experience with the Super Eagles in Benin City, simply bexcause he relishes eating such at his club’s base.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although he recounted how he once had a problem with peppery food back home with his parents, Osigwe assured that his family cooks a lot of Nigerian meals, such that he was able to cope adequately in the national team’s camp.
He went on to describe it as a wonderful experience, as he was able to hobnob with Nigeria’s senior players, several years after he spent time with the youth squad, Flying Eagles but failed to make their final squad list to the 2013 DFIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
The former SC Kries of Switzerland lad is now looking forward to better days ahead of him with club and country, as he declared emphatically that he was overwhelmed with joy after getting the news of his maiden call up to the Super Eagles last month and declared that he is determined to ensure he remains a very key member of the Nigerian squad.
Speaking after his side’s 1-1 draw away at Servette, the 26-year-old Osigwe, who was an unused substitute in the match but has already featured in four out of seven Swiss Super League games, while helping his side stay unbeaten and just two points behind leaders Young Boys, disclosed that playing for Nigeria at senior level has always been his childhood dream.
Osigwe told AOIFootball.com: “Honestly, I was full of joy when the news broke to me. I had to inform my dad immediately because it has always been a childhood dream that one day I will wear the green and white of Nigeria.
“The food was fine, I did not have a problem with the food because I do eat it here in Switzerland with my parents; only one night where I accidentally took a lot of pepper because I taught it was normal stew, it was hot but I enjoyed it.”
