Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is back in full team training with his colleagues, and looking ahead to a return to action this weekend in the French Ligue 1, even as he added that he is not thinking of moving to China, megasportsarena.com reports.
It has turned out to be a tough season for the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium versatile player, which has left many Nigerians speculating that he could want out of Bordeaux in the January transfer window, but Kalu insists he does not have that thought on his mind.
Rather than think of seeking a smart escape route on loan at a club in the Chinese Super League, Kalu says he is determined to fight for his place in his club’s starting 11, even as he edges closer getting back to game fitness for action in Ligue 1, as he recovers from an injury he suffered in action with the Super Eagles against Algeria during an international friendly in October.
Aside links with a move to China, Kalu had also been subject of a possible move to Fenerbahçe of Turkey in the summer, but Bordeaux’s top brass declared back then that he remains a key part of the club’s immediate plans and they were would not readily allow him leave Matmunt Atlantique, which has ostensibly buoyed his decision to stay put beyond January.
A report by AOIFootball.com added: “The former KAA Genk winger only suffered an injury during the October international break but returned to action last month after missing well over one month of action with the French Ligue 1 side.
“However, his return to action lasted just 60 minutes in the win away at Stade Rennes as he suffered a relapse which saw him miss clashes against PSG and Stade Brestois 29. The 23-year-old however confirmed to AOIFootball.com that he nears a return to action and can’t wait to get back and continue to help the club push for a place in Europe next season.
“Meanwhile, the winger had shrugged off transfer speculations linking him with a move to China despite what he described as a tempting offer from the CSL, saying he is well focused on getting back to full fitness with Bordeaux.”
