Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu and SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen are facing similar bolts of scary news in updates about their recent injuries, with their respective coaches confirming that they may again both miss action this weekend, megasportsarena.com reports.
Both players have been nursing nagging injuries since bowing out of action with the Super Eagles, as Kalu strained a muscle during an international friendly against Algeria in Austria during October, while Osimhen pulled a shoulder last month in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers versus Sierra Leone in Benin City.
While Kalu suffered a relapse when he tried to get back into action after almost a month out, Osimhen has missed five matches for his Naples-based Italian Serie A side, thereby leaving both youngsters on edge about the possibility of playing again before 2020 ends.
Osimhen missed Thursday night’s UEFA Europa League clash against AZ Alkmaar and he will also be missing in action against Crotone in Serie A on Sunday as well as his team’s final group game in the Europa League against Real Sociedad.
While various reports out of Italy hinted that Osimhen could be back against Sampdoria on December 13, Napoli’s coach, Gennaro Gatuso disclosed that the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Sporting Charleroi of Belgium and Lille Metropole of France hitman is upset that he not been able to play after being stretchered off at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Gattuso disclosed that Osimhen is far from happy with his injury situation, adding: “He is upset, does not smile and he is living badly, while Bordeaux’s coach, Jean-Louis Gasset revealed that Kalu is further worried after he suffered a setback that may rule him out of Sunday’s home game against Brest in the French Ligue 1.
Gasset confirmed that Kalu suffered another problem on his right leg, after he returned from a month’s layoff after he was sidelined by a hamstring injury on the left thigh, adding: “His hamstring problem was practically sorted.
“He experienced this Friday morning a small setback on the right quadriceps. It is true that he is worried. He dreads the injury. It’s okay, but we’ll have to be patient. Maybe we should be careful with him, we’ll see.”
