Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu is set o miss his club’s last four matches of the year, according to his French Ligue 1 club’s coach, Jean-Louis Gasset, who admitted that an injury copped by the versatile player during action with the Super Eagles is proving to be very troublesome.
Megasportsaena.com gatheerd that, although Kalu made an initial return to action against Stade Rennes early last month, after bowing out in an international friendly versus Algeria in October, the former SK Trencin of Slovakia and KAA Gent of Belgium star suffered a relapse and he has been out since.
He then resumed light training last week in the hope of getting back into action this weekend, but that too has gone awry, as the soft-spoken Aba-born winger suffered another setback on the quadriceps of his right thigh.
He has been battling with muscle strain since he limped out off in Nigeria’s 1-0 loss to Algeria and, though he made a return in Bordeaux’s 1-0 victory over Rennes, he bowed out just before the hour-mark; and Gasset has now disclosed that the 23-year-old Kalu will not be available for selection until after the winter break, which will run from December 23 until January 5.
Gasset told Girondins 33: “They had an MRI. I was very optimistic but unfortunately, I must have been disillusioned. The examination revealed a lesion for both. They are minimal lesions but which require a fortnight’s rest. They will not play again. By the winter break, we will see them again in 2021.”
