Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has received another dosage of sound avice from the Spanish LaLiga club’s former striker, ikechukwu Uche, who says his younger compatriot is in good hands with The Yellow Submarine and should not be in a hurry to leave, megasportsarena.com reports.
In the midst of fervent interest being expressed in Chukwueze by Real Madrid and Barcelona of Spain as well as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United of England, Ikechukwu admitted he is not in any position to stand in the youngster’s way nor even determine where he should ply his trade, but stressed that the memories of what he saw at Villarreal are of a conducive place.
He added that he was happy to see how Chukwueze forced his way into Villarreal’s first team last season and, though the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation is finding it difficult this time around to be in the club’s starting lineup, Ikechukwu hinted that better days will return.
So far this term, Chukwueze managed only 13 starts from a possible 27 before La Liga was put on hold by coronavirus, with the left-footed youngster involved in only six goals, but Ikechukwu is unperturbed by the lad’s dwindling opportunities at Villarreal.
However, rather give any categorical declaration on what Chukwueze should do, to stay put or leave Villarreal, which he insists is a good place to be for any young player, Ikechukwu urged the 20-year-old winger to think twice before deciding his next step to take this summer.
Ikechukwu told Super Eagles Media: “Him staying where he is is okay, it’s a big team, if he considers changing it is still okay but everything depends on many factors, it’s not about not getting the minutes. Some people move because they are not getting minutes, some people they don’t move because they are getting the minutes.
“His case is different; it’s not really about getting or not getting minutes. If he stays, he still has a lot to learn, he is very good. Sometimes making a move might make you understand what to do and even make you get better in football. He’s in good hands, the people that will advise him to do one thing or the other. So, him staying or not will still be good for him because he’s a good player.”
