Almeria of Spain summer signing, Sadiq Umar has declared that he is burning with desire to achieve immense proportions of glory for the side that hook him in a full contract on transfer deadline day, megasportsarena.com reports.
Heading into his second outing with the side on Saturday, Umar said he is fully focused on helping Los Rojiblancos win titles; even as he enthused that he has brought energy and a strong aura for glory into the Segunda Division side.
He insists it was not a difficult decision to leave Partizan Belgrade of Serbia for the deal in Spain, especially as he signed a full contract with the Spanish second division club on a five-year deal to strengthen their attacking options.
Although his Almeria debut ended in a 1-0 loss to UD Logrones last Saturday, Umar insists he is upbeat for better days ahead of him in the team, and concluded that the club’s ambitions tally with his, even as he declared that they all aim to get a ticket back into the top-flight LaLiga.
With the Kaduna-born striker having previously played at the topmost level in Italy, Scotland and Serbia, Umar stressed that he is ready to work his socks off, as he aims to prove his abilities and justify his arrival from Stoke.
Sadiq told the club website: “It is a great project, starting from what we have seen with the stadium. When you know something like this, it is impossible to say no, it was easy to say that I was coming to Almeria in view of the challenge that lies ahead.
“A great project must have a great striker and I put all the pressure on myself, I take the lead for whatever it takes. Before Logrones it was already seen that there are no excuses and we must push forward in search of the goal. I come with the aim of giving energy and good vibes.
“I grew up and trained playing in Italy and their football is very tactical. Then British football is very physical and Spain stands out for its quality and skill. I sincerely believe that it will be good for my qualities. I want to help not only by scoring goals, but by creating assists for teammates to score and give us those much-needed points.
“The important thing is not to score, but to help the team achieve victory. If I have a bad day in front of goal, but it benefits the team, nothing happens. I like to do different things to try to score, but always thinking about the benefit of the team.”
