A 23-year-old striker born in Port Harcourt, Jesse Sekidika has gained accolades from the management at Glaatasaray of Turkey, following a deal that sees him join his compatriot, Henry Onyekuru at the Istanbul-based Turkish Super Lig club, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although largely unknown back home in Nigeria, despite having also previously been on the cards of Benfica in Portugal, Sekidika arrives at Galatasaray highly recommended, and the club’s president, Mustafa Cengiz is reeling out lofty words for the new arrival.
Cengiz said he is happy to have Sekidika join his team on a four-and-half year deal from Turkish lower division outfit, Eskişehirspor, and believes the winger-cum-attacker will help the top-flight league’s defending champions achieve more success in the second half of this season.
Indeed, Sekidika, who comes highly recommended to Turk Telecom Stadium, could make his debut for his new club when they take on Rizespor in a Turkish Cup tie on Wednesday, January 15, and Cengiz is already thinking big of the lad’s prospects in the team.
Cengiz added: “Jesse is a footballer who is in line with our strategic and rejuvenated policy, We believe that he will always take part in the struggle to carry the flag of Galatasaray to the top as a team player.”
Sekidika also voiced his his enthusiasm while speaking in response to the warm welcome he got from Gala’s president, saying: “I came to a very large club. I am very happy. I will use this great opportunity. Galatasaray was a place I always wanted.”
