Racing Genk of Belgium striker, Paul Onuachu might ened up joining Arsenal of England in a transfer deal worth £17m, should latest information go according to script.
Megasportsarena.com reports that this is sequel to an updated report on the tall striker’s transfer saga, as The Gunners are said to be looking in his direction for a summer swoop.
This comes at a point Onuachu has been lamenting over his inability to get a big switch inthe summer, despite emerging top scorer in Belgium last term, but all speculations about deals across Europe all fell flat.
Much to the agony of Onuachu and his fans, the former Young Stars of Lagos, FC Ebedie of Shagamu and FC Midtjylland of Denmark hitman is saddled with another season plying his trade with Genk, but that story might soon change.
That is sequel to information gathered from Spanish publication, Mundo Deportivo, which disclosed that Arsenal are set to ward off stiff opposition for Onuachu’s signature from two of their London-based rivals in the English Premier League.
With Onuachu having restated his love for The Gunners, top shots at Emirates Stadium are now keen on making a formal bid for the lanky lad, amidst reports that fellow-London-based Tottenham Hotspur are also being linked with the in-form star as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
An additional report by Belgian publication, Voetbal24 disclosed that, should Kane leave Tottenham, they already have Onuachu on a shortlist of replacements under consideration, but Arsenal are also lining him as a potential replacement for Alexander Lacazzette.
However, Onuachu , who a recent survey at Emirates Stadium revealed caught the eye of Gunners’ fans with his haul of 35 goals in 41 games, is also attracting interest from West Ham United and Southampton.
The survey added that Onuachu, who Arsenal fan values of £20m and was voted the Belgian League’s Pro Player of the Year, stands just one inch shorter than Liverpool legend, Peter Crouch.
British tabloid, The Athletic added that Watford are also interested in taking the player to England, but West Ham fans seem to think that Onuachu would pick Arsenal over them and his estimated value of £20m will be beyond The Hornets.
The report out of Spain adds: “Genk’s 6ft 7in striker Onuachu is on Arsenal’s wish-list, but several other clubs are in for the 27-year-old Nigerian.
“Onuachu has hit 11 goals in 16 games for Genk this season after netting 35 times last term. He is said to be available for just £17million, with Tottenham and West Ham two other clubs showing an interest in a move for the forward.
“With Alexandre Lacazette set to move on, manager Mikel Arteta is eager to add another striker to his ranks.”
Incidentally, Onuachu has attracted plenty of interest with his red-hot form since arriving in Belgium from Midtjylland, where he famously scored the winner against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League.
The 27-year-old striker recently admitted he is a fan of Arsenal and confessed that he is desperate to catch the eye of his beloved Gunners, as the 11-cap Nigeria international labeled Emirates Stadium as his dream destination.
Onuachu told Sporza: “I really like Arsenal. Emmanuel Adebayor, one of the players I admired most, played there. I really was a fan of him, including Nwankwo Kanu. I really love watching Arsenal too.”
