Nigerian women’s senior national team, Super Falcons’ defender, Osinachi Ohale has disclosed that she is deeply excited to seal an astonishing summer transfer from Real Madrid of Spain-owned CD Tacon to AS Roma Femeni of Italy,
megasportsarena.com reports.
The 28-year-old central defender, who previously played for Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt as well as Delta Queens of Asaba and was part of the Falcons’ winning squad at the 2019 African Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, said she feels highly honored being the Giallorosse’s third summer signing ahead of the 2020/21 season; after the capture of Italian goalkeeper, Rachel Baldi and Spanish striker, Paloma Lazaro.
Osinachi made the move to Italy after helping Real Madrid’s female squad retain their league status and she is now hoping to bring to bear on her new base the experience she gained from playing with Madrid, which she joined from FF Vaxjo of Sweden last September, then went on to score two goals in 15 games for David Aznar’s team before the Spanish league was hastily cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Her pedigree also includes appearances at three editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the last of which was at France 2019, such that the exuberant lass, who has also played for Houston Dash of USA and Vittsjo of Sweden, now aims to hit the ground running in pre-season training with her new teammates, following the commencement of their preparations on Wednesday.
They set their plans in motion with a 4-0 win over Fiorentina in their first build-up friendly, less than a month to the start of the Serie A Femminile season, ahead of which her new club put out a message of welcome on their official Twitter account to announce the arrival of Ohale, who they described as a tough and versatile defender.
Roma’s reception message for her read: “Welcome to the team, Osinachi Ohale! The Nigerian defender becomes our latest addition this summer;” to which she responded with an equally thrilling post on social media, as she stated: “Excited to announce my signing with as ROMA in Italy, looking forward to an incredible opportunity.💪🏽.”
Ohale later added in a media chat: “I chose Roma because of so many things; so many amazing things about the club, about this city and this country that interested me. I felt like it would be a great thing for me, to explore and to experience new things and a new challenge.”
