SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen gained another round of accolades form far and wide, after he struck home his seventh goal of the season for his Italian Serie A club, with his latest salvo coming on Monday night away to AS Torino, megasportsarena.com reports.
Osimhen was on fire for the second straight mach running, as Napoli climbed above Juventus into fourth place with a 2-0 win against their relegation-threatened opponents, thanks to early goals from Tiemoue Bakayoko and the Super Eagles’ youngster.
Osimhen doubled Napoli lead after 13 minutes of action, as he got to the end of a clearance inside his team’s own half of the pitch, before he made a determined run all the way to goal, but he was later replaced in the 80th minute.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer sped through Torino’s backline, beat Gleison Bremer before sending a low shot past Sirigu and it became the first time since February 2017 – against Bologna – that Napoli would score two goals in the first 15 minutes of a Serie A away match.
Bakayoko fired home a swerving shot from the edge of the box after 11 minutes, and Napoli had their second two minutes later when Osimhen’s effort, after a surging run that began in his own half of the pitch, was deflected into the bottom corner.
The visitors came close to making the win more comfortable as Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Insigne efforts rattled the post either side of the break, before Torino midfielder Rolando Mandragora picked up a second yellow card late on.
Torino remain 16th with 31 points, level with Cagliari and Benevento below them, but Davide Nicolas’ side have a game in hand, while Osimhen has set his sight on helping Napoli into next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Gennaro Gattuso’s Naples-based side went level with Juventus on 66 points, but leapfrogged them in the standings due to superior goals difference, as both sides’ head-to-head record is even.
Osimhen was full of delight afterwards, and the verdict that appeared for him on social media declared in Italian language: “la corsa continua Hundred points symbol dai raga Flexed biceps Blue heart White heart @sscnapoli.”
