Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Assiat Oshoala says she has set her mind on working hard to win as many competitions as possible with her club, hence her verdcitr hat they must come out victorious in Thursday’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atletico Madrid.
In contrast with belief in some quarters that Oshoala and her teammates are thinking mostly of the domestic championship and winning their first ever UEFA Women’s Champions League title, the Nigerian female national team, Super Falcons’ captain added her strong desire to see Barca also clinch the Super Cup.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, heading into Thursday’s semi-final tie with their Madrid-based title aspirants, Oshoala charged her colleagues to go all out and silence their rivals in Salamanca, where they will do battle with the reigning Spanish Iberdola Liga champions.
Oshoala, who sealed a three-year permanent deal with Barca last summer, after an initial loan spell from Dalian Quanjian of China, has made an incredible impact for Llius Cortes’ side, scoring 15 league goals in 15 outings this season, which attracted interest from Olympique Lyon of France.
However, The Catalans were able to ward off interest from the European champions, as the French giantesses failed in their bid to get ‘Super Zee’ in as a replacement for injured Ada Hegerberg, leaving Oshoala to continue Barca’s hunt for a first major domestic title since 2018.
In a bid for a final place on February 9, Barcelona, who are yet to lose a competitive game since their Champions League final loss to Lyon last May but must now see off Atletico who are on an 18-game unbeaten run, while Oshoala will be personally aiming to increase her tally against the Madrid giants, having scored three times in four outings against Dani González’s team.
Oshoala told Goal: “We want to win every game and every competition we take play as a team. We want to look at ourselves at the end of each game and smile and say we did it. We’ve been working so hard to make sure the team remain at the top of the league. We’ve been working so hard to win the league title this year which is obviously our primary goal.
“We’ve played a couple of tough and top games and we’ve tried to make sure we win every game. I hope it continues like this. Whichever tournament, be it the Champions League, Super Cup and FA Cup and also the league, we want to make sure that we give our hundred percent.”
