Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala has chipped in a comical angle to reactions railing the arrest of Nigerian pop music star, Omar Lay in Uganda, as the women national team, Super Falcons’ captain joked that someone will have to buy the artiste his freedom.
Megasportsaena.com reports that Oshoala went on to mix music and sports further by suggesting that another singer, David Adeleke (aka Davido) should join Nigeria’s men’s national team, Super Eagles’ camp, Ahmed Musa in bailing Omah Lay out by buying over the entire Uganda.
While Oshoala made light of the matter, after Omar Lay and a promoter, Tems were detained in Kampala on account of breaching coronavirus restrictions by organizing a concert and they were both charged to court for further hearing of the charges pressed against them, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intervened in the brouhaha.
Thus was disclosed by the chairman/CEO of Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who said Nigeria’s foreign affairs minister, Geoffrey Onyeama has waded into the matter and is also in touch with some top international lawyers to find a quick peaceful solution.
Although Ugandans and other Africans from the continent’s eastern region might see Oshoala’s words as demeaning, as she suggested buying out a whole country in order to fee a single musician, the former FC Robo Queens of Lagos, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, Arsenal Women and Liverpool Ladies of England as well as Dalian Quanjian of China star reckoned that the saga about Omar Lay deserved some comical relief.
The four-time African Women Footballer of The Year’s reaction to the Omar Lay issue comes at a point her pet project, Asisat Oshoala Foundation officially set in motion a borehole project she had earlier promised a community in her place of birth, Ikorodu.
Information on offer revealed that, as part of key donations Oshoala promised through the foundation, they have embarked on another borehole project at Itunmoja community in the Lagos suburb of Ikorodu, just as they had earlier done in Mushin, in partnership with UBA Foundation.
Both foundations are partnering to provide potable water through various borehole projects across The Centre of Excellence, and their latest venture will be commissioned on Boxing Day, but Oshoala has also chipped in something else on social media.
Oshoala posted: “Omo na to begin talk to @davido and @Ahmedmusa718 make them go help us buy Uganda ooo , we go refund Una later. #FreeTems #FreeOmahLay.”
