Barcelona Femeni of Spain attacker, Asisat Oshoala has been cast in doubt for this month’s UEFA Women’s Champions League final against Chelsea of England, as she has suffered a relapse of a recent injury that required surgery, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although Oshoala recently returned to action after several weeks out on the sideline and played the second leg of her side’s semi-final victory over Paris Saint-Germain of France, she is now in a race against time to be fit for the final in a fortnight.
This is sequel to report out of Spain indicating that Barca are now sweating over the fitness of ‘Super Zee’ heading into the clash and the cub even issued a medical bulletin that revealed she is on the sidelines due to a sprained left ankle.
Consequently, former FC Robo Queens of Lagos, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, Arsenal and Liverpool of England as well as Dalian Quanjian of China star has been omitted from Barcelona’s roster for Wednesday’s Copa de la Reina quarter-final clash with Sevilla at Estadio Jesús Navas.
Last month, Oshoala was sidelined by a foot injury for three weeks but was able to overcome the setback in time for the semi-final versus PSG, but Bara have not indicated that she is rated as doubtful for the final at Gamla Ullevi in Göteborg, Sweden on May 16.
The Catalans may have to do without the four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year, who has four goals to her name, bettered only by Barcelona’s Jennifer Hermoso (6), Chelsea’s Fran Kirby (6), Barcelona’s Lieke Martens (5) and Manchester City’s Sam Mewis (5).
