Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi might yet be tempted to leave the Turkish Super Lig modest club this month, as he has received a mouth-watering offer from Dubai-based Al-Wahda of United Arab Emirates, who are ready to splash a whooping transfer fee on him, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Although Onazi recently fired back to deny reports that he had been sacked by Trabzonspor, following almost a year out with injury, speculation still persists over a bleak future for him in the club, such that news about interest coming his way might be the best escape route for him.
This comes at a point that another report has suggested that Onazi actually had to beg the top brass at Trabzonspor to allow him stay on with a cut in pay, after he was declared surplus to requirements by the team’s technical crew.
It is now left to be seen how Onazi will react to reported interest in him from Dubai, especially as feelers also persist that his contract at Trabzonspor may not be renewed when it runs out this summer; hence the move by one of his agents to link him with Al-Wahda FC.
While Onazi rebuffed reports that Trabzonspor want him out, which he labeled fake news, he is yet to play a single competitive match since he suffered a long-term injury in December 2018, with a relapse early 2019, while another limitation on his prospects in the city of Trabzon come from the club’s recent acquisition of Badou Ndiaye from Stoke City of England.
