Sivasspor of Turkey new signing, Olarewaju Kayode has sent a deeply emotional message of appreciation to fans, players and officials at Gaziantep, the last club he played for in the Turkish Super Lig, as he recalled how much fun he had during his stay with the team, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although he eventually left the side by mutual consent last month, following their decision not to meet up with his wage demands, the former youth international, who had been on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine, stressed that he has no grudges against anyone at Gaziantep.
Rather than feel bad that the modest Turkish club could not meet his wage demands and preferred letting him go, the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup silver medalist, who had been on loan from Manchester City of England to Girona of Spain and Donetsk before joining Gaziantep, simply noted that he had a rosy time with the team, for which he scored 10 goals in 27 games.
The well-travelled striker, who joined Donetsk on an initial loan from City in March 2018 and the deal was made permanent at the end of that season, during which he scored two goals in six appearances, is now hoping to make the best of his latest loan deal, which will run for the duration of this season with no option to buy.
He took to social media to reveal his thoughts about his immediate past, as the lad who has also played for Heartland of Owerri, ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and FC Wien of Austria, disclosed that he still holds fond memories of the warm welcome he received at Gaziantep and concluded by wishing them the best of fortunes in the new season.
Kayode posted: “I want to use this medium to thank my Gaziantep family, my Coach and crews, fans and well-wishers for your love, support and encouragement and can never take for granted!!! This is my new home now Sivasspor and I’m wishing my club and teammates all the best in this season and let’s make some magic together.”
