Club Brugge of Belgium striker, David Chidozie Okereke was again on target, and his fourth goal of the season helped his side remain top of the table, as the champions beat KAS Eupen 3-0 at home, megasportsarena.com reports.
Okereke hit target in the 82nd minute, just three minutes after one of his teammates was sent off, with the Nigerian striker stepping up his relevance at Brugge, in the week they splashed four million Euro to sign a new striker from the German Bundesliga.
It is also noteworthy that Brugge’s record signing has been moved to the wings after he started out as top striker last season, but he is waxing stronger with the team that now have 39 points from 19 matches, five points clear of closest rivals Genk, who have two games in hand.
In Israel, former Abia Warriors of Umuahia forward, Michael Olaha scored one of the goals in a 3-2 loss for Hapoel Kfar Shalem away to Hapoel Rishon LeZion, as the 23-year-old striker netted in the 43rd minute to give his club a 2-1 lead.
However, the youngster, who has also previously played for Song Lam Nghe Ann of Vietnam, with which he won the FA Cup in 2017, as well as at Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel, could not save his team from defeat, even as he struck home his fifth goal in 15 games.
In France, Terem Moffi ended a run of nine games without scoring, as the in-form attacker, who started from the bench in the previous weekend’s loss at home to Stade Rennes, helped Lorient enact a comeback and grab a valuable point away to OGC Nice in the French Ligue 1.
The 21-year-old returned to the starting line-up for the seventh time this campaign with the visitors hoping to end the year on a high, after back to back losses, but it was the hosts who struck first blood when former Arsenal of England youngster, Jeff Reine- Adelaide set up Jordan Lotomba before the French midfielder doubled his side’s lead just after the half hour mark.
Moffi, who was on for 63 minutes, with a rating of 7.7, two key passes, completed all his take ons, 1005 passes and successful big chance, made the most of a defensive mix-up to pull one back for the visitors four minutes after the break.
However, Adrian Grbic equalised from 12 yards eight minutes from time to seal a point for the visitors who end the year just above the automatic relegation spot.
In Qatar, Anthony Okpotu took his goals tally to three for the season as he scored for the second consecutive league match to help Qatar SC get a 4-1 win away at Al-Ahli Doha, with the former Lobi Stars of Makurdi hitman leading the line for the visitors who were hoping to make it five successive wins on the bounce.
The 26-year-old Okpotu, who entered the game with two goals and one assist in his last two league outings, needed just 10 minutes to open scoring heading home a Nasir Baksh header to put the visitors 1-0 up with the host then going on to equalize just before half time when Nabil El Zhar converted from 12 yards.
Youssef Belaili then restored Qatar SC lead three minutes after the break when he also scored from the spot before the Algerian was handed another penalty this time after Okpotu was brought down in the box on 68 minute.
Belaili stepped up and converted for 3-1 before completing a hat-trick of penalties in the 89th minute to seal a 4-1 win for the visitors who now move up to 5th on the log with 18 points from 10 games.
