Bournemouth of England midfielder, Nnamdi Ofoborh has a strong desire to play for Glasgow Rangers of Scotland, and he is now inches closer to agreeing a pre-contract with the Scottish Premiership runaway champions to be, megasportsarena.com reports.
This much has been revealed by Bournemouth’s current coach, Jason Tindall, who disclosed that Ofoborh could be on his way to Ibrox at the end of this month, even as independent reports indicate that the youngster has entered the final six months of his contract with The Cherries.
This means the former Flying Eagles’ invitee can sign a preliminary contract with a foreign club as an impending free-agent, but Bournemouth would be entitled to compensation as Ofoborh is already an under-24 player.
The 21-year-old has also developed in status, as he lasted the distance in Bournemouth’s EFL Carabao Cup clashes with Crystal Palace and Manchester City last September, before playing a minute each against Coventry City, Reading and Barnsley in the English Championship.
However, he could be on the way on the strength of his new burst of form, as The Gers appear ready to link him up with the Nigerian duo of Joe Aribo and Leon Aderemi Balogun, even after The Light Blues announced the signing of Ofoborh’s teammate, Jack Simpson on Thursday.
Ofoborh is now expected to follow Simpson to Ibrox, which means he would again have the presence of Nigerian companions to boost his exertions, just as it was when he played alongside Dominic Solanke, Arnaud Danjuma, Philip Anyanwu Billing and Jordon Ibe at Bournemouth.
That would also provide another career fillip for Ofoborh, who has been with former English Premier League side, Bournemouth since 2016, after stops at Tottenham Hotspur and Millwall, but The Cherries’ gaffer has sensationally admitted that he is aware that the youngster is set to move on, and Scotland could jolly wqell be his next port of call.
Tindall affirmed as much when he told Bournemouth Echo: “The conversations I’ve had with Nnamdi, I think they are down the line on that one. I know it’s a club I think he would want to go and play for.
“It’s not as far down the line as what Jack is, but I think he is close to agreeing things to also go to Rangers. Credit to the football club and everyone that’s worked with Nnamdi, from where he was when he joined us.
“To where he currently is now and to where he might end up, I think is great credit to everyone at this football club that’s helped him to achieve that.”
