Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi set a new record of seven tackles in a single match of the English Premier League, when he lined out on Saturday for The Foxes against Manchester United, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although the game eventually ended 2-2 at King Power Stadium, Ndidi had a personal mark to flaunt, as the former Racing Genk of Belgium central defender-turned-holding midfielder set a new single-game tackle record for his club on the evening.
Information provided by statistics portal, Squawka revealed that Ndidi, who Ndidi is bound to reach a 150-game milestone for Leicester against Eberechi Eze’s Crystal Palace on Monday, made the most tackles by any Leicester player in a single EPL game this season, thereby beating his own previous record in the process.
An additional report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Of the seven matches Ndidi has been involved in the Premier League this season, he was the stat leader for tackles in three matches, against Burnley (3), Everton (6) and Manchester United (7).
“It is worth mentioning that the Nath Boys product was deployed as a central defender in two of the matches he completed the most number of tackles, in the win vs Burnley and loss to the Toffees.
“In his first two full seasons in England, the former Racing Genk star was the top-tackling player in the Premier League and ranked second behind Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka for the 2019-2020 campaign.”
