Two Super Eagles’ youngsters, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi and Victor Osimhen are set to swap their current locations in Europe, as one will be heading to France and the other is bound to take the reverse in a move to England, megasportsarena.com reports.
Both players, who were part of Nigeria’s bronze medal-winning squad at last year’s Afirca Cup of Nations in Egypt, could be on the move in alternating directions this summer, although each of their contracts at their clubs will not expire until 2024, but their sterling performances in England and France respectively have drawn lots of suitors their way.
This is sequel to reports that Ndidi, who currently plays for Leicester City in the English Premier League is wanted by newly confirmed French Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germaine, while Osimhen, who has taken that competition by storm with 13 goals for Lille Metropole, could be on his way to Liverpool of England.
In effect, while Osimhen could be heading to Queensland on the cards of Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield-based side, Ndidi is wanted in Emmanuel Macron’s country, , in a potential move to PSG, for which has already received a price tag of £45m from his club, as The Foxes are now considering the possibility of accepting a formal bid from the Paris-based aristocrats this summer.
Although Leicester had initially expressed a strong desire to keep Ndidi beyond this summer’s transfer window, The Foxes now appear leaning to the possibility of cashing in on the former racing Genk of Belgium battler on account of lost finances during the coronavirus pandemic.
An update provided by Sports Mole senior reporter, Darren Plant disclosed that Ndidi is now a strong potential transfer target for PSG this summer, considering his top form for The Foxes this season, which appears to be his best since his arrival at King Power Stadium from Genk in 2017.
This comes admits emerging information that PSG’s sporting director, Leonardo is focusing on a move for Ndidi, as the Brazilian icon is in the market for a new midfield addition this summer for the French Ligue 1 champions.
While has been casting a wide net for the acquisition of his choice player, Leonadrdo has also put his sight on Chelsea midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on-loan with Ligue 1 rivals, AS Monaco, but his latest big target is now Ndidi.
This much has been confirmed by another media outlet, RMC, whose reporter, Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Leonardo favours signing the Super Eagles’ star, and wrote on social media: “If PSG really like Wilfred Ndidi? Much more Ndidi than Bakayoko for PSG – that I can assure you.”
On the other hand, Osimhen has been hit with a formal £75m summer transfer bid, as the scramble by some of Europe’s big clubs for the 21-year-old fast-rising star enters the crucial stage, and officials at his club are facing up to the reality that they are bound to lose him at the end of this season.
Although details of the first official offer thrown at Lille are yet to emerge, reports across Europe indicate that it is no longer mere speculation that a massive scramble is on for Osimhen, who has been in impressive form during his first ever season in the French Ligue 1.
With 13 goals in the domestic league and 18 across all competitions, in 38 appearances, among which are two strikes in the UEFA Champions League, Osimhen is the kid on the block many top clubs want this summer, with links already coming his way from six EPL sides, four in the Italian Serie A and another four in the Spanish LaLiga.
Among his many admirers are Leicester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool of England, who have all been strongly linked with the ex-VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium whiz-kid in recent days, while similar attention is also coming from AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli of Italy, as well as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia of Spain.
It is now a case of conjecture to know which of the 14 suitors want him most, for them to have made the first of any daring move to grab him this summer and, although the first to make their intentions official has not been identified by the publication, the race is surely on for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalist, who scored 20 times for Charleroi before joining Lille.
