Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has gained another rain of plaudits from his team’s coach, Brendan Rodgers, with the former Liverpool boss declaring that the Super Eagles’ star was again outstanding in Thursday’s match against Liverpool.
Megasportsarena.com gathered that, although The Foxes scandalously lost the game 4-0 at home, thereby giving The Reds a long distance between them atop the English Premier League table, Rodgers insists Ndidi gave a very good account of himself.
Ndidi and his teammates could not make the best of home advantage against the Anfield side but, as they prepare to travel to West Ham United on Saturday, before taking another away tie at Newcastle United on New Year’s Day, Rodgers opted to pick positives from Thursday’s loss.
Analysts believe the title is all won and lost, after Liverpool beat their closest challengers 4-0 on their own turf on Thursday, to open up a 13-point lead at the top of the table, with The Reds taking total command of an away game that saw Ndidi in action for 90 minutes, while national team colleague, Kelechi Iheanacho was not dressed for the encounter at King Power Stadium.
A brace from Roberto Firmino as well as one each by James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold secured Jurgen Klopp’s side their 17th win in 18 league matches, after which Rodgers admitted it was an implosion for his side, but single out Ndidi for praise.
Rodgers told Super Sport: “Wilfred Ndidi was fantastic throughout – fighting, running, working, getting on the ball – but we just didn’t have long enough periods with it. We couldn’t really feed Jamie with any pass or any quality of pass, so that’s the big frustration of the evening. They are world champions and of course it becomes difficult for you.”
