Arsenal of England youth team’s Nigerian-born duo of Miguel Azeez and Folarin Balogun look likely to feature for The Gunners’ main squad in this week’s UEFA Europa League fixture against FF Molde of Norway, megasportsarena.com reports.
This is sequel to the presence of both lads in training with senior players of the London-based club, as Arsenal coach, Mikel Arteta ids putting trust in the 18-year-old central midfielder, Azeez and 19-year-old striker, Balogun to fill in for some missing stars.
Azeez and Balogun were part of the squad that boarded the plane at Luton Airport on Tuesday, as they kept themselves in contention to feature against the 2019 Norwegian champions, who are bound to have their hands full in containing an Arsenal side that already have victories in all of first three matches in this season’s Europa League.
The Gunners would qualify for the knockout rounds with a victory on Thursday at Aker Stadium, where it would be the first-ever senior squad involvement for Azeez if selected to play, while Balogun made his professional debut when the London side beat Dundalk 3-0 on October 29.
Balogun is knocking on the door of the Arsenal first team following his impressive performances for the U23 side and was captain in their last five Premier League 2 matches, while second year professional Azeez has trained with The Gunners’ first team on multiple occasions and got the nod from Arteta for a pre-season game against Milton Keynes Dons in August.
