Reading of England fast-rising youngster, Michael Olise has received another shower of accolades, as former Glasgow Rangers of Scotland coach, Alex McLeish says the France youth international has great potentials, megasportsarena.com reports.
McLeish declared as much while analyzing the transfer prospects Olise holds heading into the January window, with reports already linking him with Leeds United, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal and Crystal Palace.
With a total of five English Premier League clubs said to be chasing Olise’s signature next month, McLeish reckoned that the attacking midfielder, who has a release clause of eight million pounds and contracted to The Royals until the end of next season, is worth all hoopla currently rolling round his name.
However, while the Scottish football tactician acknowledged that Olise is a talented player, he quickly interjected that he does not think that the France youth international can immediately replace Leeds’ experienced playmaker, Pablo Hernandez.
He reckoned further that there is still a lot more that is expected from Olise, who has excelled in his breakout season at Reading, with four goals and seven assists from 20 games in the lower cadre English Championship.
McLeish told Football Insider: “Olise’s got great potential (but he) certainly won’t have all the answers that Hernandez has got because he [Hernandez] is a proven professional who’s had a long, long time in the game.
“I thought I could get the new Tommy Coyne, the new Paul Lambert… It’s not quite as easy as that. Of course, if you don’t have the money that the big guns have, then you should bring in young players. I was never afraid to bring young players and put them in the team.
“I did it at many of my clubs, I always knew they’d make mistakes but they should be allowed to make mistakes. Sometimes it can risk you being in the relegation zone, when you don’t have enough quality or nous in the team to be in the higher regions of the league.”
