Reading of England youngster, Michael Olise led a rain of goals by Nigerian-born players based in England, as a total six of them made hay for their respective clubs on Saturday, megasportsaena.com reports.
While Olise continued his stunning form in the English Premier League, since arriving from Ajax Amsterdam of Holland in the summer, similar impact was again felt from Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke as the England former youth international hit target once again for The Cherries.
Olise and Solanke were joined by Nigerian-born lads in England’s lower divisions, as Chuks Aneke made it five goals in nine matches in the third-cadre League One, as he hit home an 85th minute strike for Charlton Athletic in a 5-2 spanking of visiting Wimbledon.
Aneke’s goal made the scoreline 4-2 at the Valley, with the Nigerian-born youngster, who cut his teeth with Arsenal of England, hitting the bull’s eye in the 32nd minute, not too long after he entered the game as an early substitute.
Same evening in England, his time in the fourth cadre League Two, Nigerian-born Republic of Ireland youth international, Joshua Kayode netted a 20th minute header for Carlisle United and helped his side to a mammoth 4-0 win over Stevenage at Brunton Park.
James Olayinka also struck on Saturday in League Two, as the lad on loan from Arsenal opened his account for Southend United against Scunthorpe United at Roots Hall, where the dashing midfielder made hay ten minutes from time, as he helped his side secure three points.
Elijah Adebayo was also on target for Walsall, for which he netted in the 44th minute of their 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers, against who his side overturned an early goal conceded and still went on to silence The Trotters.
However, the biggest talking point in Saturday’s games belonged to Olise, who struck home his fourth goal of the season on his 19th birthday and helped Reading win 1-0 win against Queens Park Rangers.
In the upper echelon, Solanke was the star of the show at the Vitality Stadium, scoring two goals and providing an assist as Bournemouth thrashed Huddersfield Town 5-0, with the England ex-youth international as well as former Liverpool and Chelsea star chipped the goalkeeper.
After his first salvo in the eighth minute of play, Solanke kept his cool and made the scoreline 2-0 in the 13th minute, after which he provided an assist in his side’s third goal – with only the first 21 minutes of the am having been played.
