Sparta Rotterdam of Holland goalkeeper, Emil Maduka Okoye has gained a captivating citation to herald his selection into team of season for the Dutch Eredivisie, which the Super Eagles’ shot-stopper also admitted he is deeply delighted to achieve.
Megasportsarena.com reports that it is another major leap for Okoye, who has made the best of his first season at Sparta, where he initially had a shaky start on arrival from Fortuna Duseldorf of Germany, but now has a long liune of clean sheets to show for his imrpoved form.
Speaking the wake of his nomination to the symbolic all-stars’ squad to wrap up the season in The Netherlands’ top-flight league, Maduka gave all the glory to God, especially as it came few hours after he helped his team play goalless away to FC Utrecht with some captivating saves, as Spartak reached the championship play-offs.
Okoye’s citation read in part: “With competitors such as Remko Pasveer from Vitesse and Sergio Padt from FC Groningen, the choice was not easy, but Okoye had a great season at Sparta in the shadows.
“The only 21-year-old Nigerian was only beaten 35 times in 28 games and kept clean sheet 10 times, impressive figures for a goalkeeper from Sparta. Robert Maaskant mentioned the 1 meter 97 long last week at RTV Rijnmonda ‘crazy athlete.’
