Nigeria’s Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning captain, Kelechi Nwakali is under the radar of two second division clubs in Spain, where he currently plies his trade with Huesca, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although he started off on a rosy note after joining Huesca last summer, things have not soared for the former Arsenal of England signing, who was loaned several times by The Gunners before eventually opting for a permanent transfer in 2019.
Since then, things have continued to be stormy for the product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia, who left FC Porto of Portugal to Huesca in the Spanish Segunda Division, but he is now wanted by their league rivals AD Alcorcón and Logroñés.
Nwakali is also said to be attracting January transfer interest from a Belgian First Division A club, with a view to taking advantage of the bewildering career dip that is facing the Nigerian senior national team-B player and under-23 squad, Olympic Eagles’ vice-captain.
Spanish sports daily Marca added: “Alcorcón are in the market for a box-to-box midfielder two days before the close of the transfer window and the coaches have Nwakali on top of their wishlist.
“The former Arsenal starlet does not appear to be in the plans of SD Huesca manager Pacheta for the second half of the season and the La Liga outfit are looking at the possibility of loaning him out to another team.
“Although the 22-year-old is contracted to Huesca until the end of the 2021-2022 season, (he could be on the move to) where he can play on a regular basis. Of his seven appearances for Huesca this season, Nwakali has started just once – against Real Madrid at the end of October.”
