UD Huesca of Spain midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali has disclosed that he is burning with the desire to step up and increase the momentum he started during his debut match in the Spanish LaLiga last weekend by doing even better this time out versus fellow-newly promoted side, Cadiz, megasportsarena.com gathered.
The Golden Eaglets’ Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning captain was a 62nd minute sub for Huesca in last weekend’s 1-1 draw away to Samuel Chukwueze’s Villarreal, but the 22-year-old product of Diamond Fotbal Academy of Umuahia is now thinking of a starting spot and better performance against Cadiz.
In his 28 minutes of action last Saturday, Nwakali completed 100% of his passes, won one duel and made one key pass, which many observers reckoned was a solid performance by the former youth international who has a single cap with the Super Eagles’ B-squad, but the youngster is now pushing for his first LaLiga start on Sunday when Huesca host Cadiz at El Alcoraz.
The Cupid-faced lad, who joined Huesca from FC Porto of Portugal, after several years of a soft contract with Arsenal of England that saw him loaned to the Portuguese side as well as MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo of Holland, enthused that his search for excellence in LaLiga was boosted last weekend by the moment of joy he got in his debut away to Villarreal.
He also revealed how he was able to get up close on familiar ground with Chukwueze, which he said made the game special and more exciting for him, especially as his fellow Umuahia-brought up lad and colleague in the Chile 2015 Eaglets’ squad prayed that he will have a pleasant season with Huesca in the Spanish top-flight.
Nwakali told to AOIFootball.com: “It was a good game for me and I believe both teams gave a good account of themselves. I personally felt good playing against him (Chukwueze) as he is my personal friend since our U-17 days.
“I wish him all the best in the season. He even joked that Huesca has a never-tiring spirit despite just coming into the league and he wished us the best in the LaLiga this campaign.”
