Tottenham Hotspur of England youth team defender, Jubril Okedina has received a very warm welcome at lower division side, Cambridge United, where he will play this season on loan until the end of the season, megasportsarena.com reports.
This follows a bold declaration by The U’s head coach, Mark Bonner that he loves Okedina’s defensive qualities and physical attributes, thereby suggesting that the versatile 20-year-old lad will have regular playing time at the club he joined at the start of this week.
Although Okedina normally plays at right-back or centre-back, Bonner has suggested that he will try the youngster in various defensive positions during his time with the English League Two club, but his long-term future still lies at Spurs, where he recently signed a new contract that is expected to run until 2022.
Okedina has yet to make a senior first-team appearance for the London club, but that has not stopped Boner from showering accolades on the fast-rising defender, who the Cambridge gaffer believes will add extra depth and quality to his back-four formations over the coming months.
Bonner enthused: “His attitude, defensive qualities and athleticism make him a good addition. This will be a good experience for Jubril as it’s his first senior loan and he offers us good competition and cover in the defensive unit.”
