Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is excited ahead of the team’s next international friendly against his home country, Portugal next month in Lisbon, reports Megasportsarena.com.
Nigeria clash with Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernandez and others on the 17th of November, 2022 at the Estádio José Alvalade.
“It’s my country until then we will be observing our players. I am happy to play against Portugal and I wish to do a good job there.
“But until then, I await the return of the players who are out injured, some are not fit while some are not performing at the highest level, I wish that they get in top gear.”
The former FC Porto coach also stated that only the best players will be given a call up for the Lisbon game.
“I choose the best of the best, we have many players. It’s my job to choose the best players. I hope we don’t have too many injuries, although it can happen.”
Nigeria and Portugal have never played against each other at senior level. They have however played against each other three times at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, with the Portuguese winning all three.
