Bayern Munich of Germany’s Nigerian-born youngster, Jamal Musiala has found another feather added to his growing cap of personal laurels, as he has been voted best newcomer of the year 2020 in the German Bundesliga, megasportsarena.com reports.
So soon after the new rave of the moment broke into The Bavarians’ main squad and keeps getting a place in their mathday teams for the first part of the season, Bundesliga fans have now rewarded him with a symbolic prize.
Musiala will now head into 2021 in upbeat mood and buoyed by the zeal of knowing that his efforts are being recognised, as he was named best of the league’s new lot by a cross-section of readers of highly-respected German newspaper, Bild.
The England under-21 international has played 16 games for Bayern to date, scoring three goals this season, during which he debuted in the UEFA Champions League, DFB Pokal and DFL Super Cup, all of which combined to see him emerge with 91 percent of the readers choosing him as the league’s best newcomer.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “Musiala placed first ahead of former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane (4 percent) and Costa (2 percent). Recruited from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, the highly-rated teenager is expected to sign his first professional contract in the coming months.
“Musiala made his first team debut for Bayern Munich in a Bundesliga clash against SC Freiburg on June 20, 2020, becoming the youngest player to feature for the Bavarians in the league aged 17 years and 115 days.”
