Cercle Brugge of Belgium striker, Ike Ugbo has spoken out boldly to dispel all speculation going round that he is adverse to several loan deals that have taken him outside Chelsea of England, megasportsarena.com reports.
With his parent club again opting not to keep him in heir squad for the ongoing season, despite his heroic performances over the past two campaigns while on loan in Holland and Belgium, Ugbo says he enjoyed the opportunity of getting to see different settings during all his temporary deals.
The repeated loan spells outside Stanford Bridge have come despite Ugbo being a prolific scorer during his time with Chelsea’s youth teams and he even inked a new deal with the London-based club before heading out on his latest loan in August.
Since joining Chelsea at U10 level, Ugbo has yet to make his competitive debut for the Stamford Bridge outfit but regularly trains with the first team and featured during a friendly in July 2019 against Bohemians.
However, Ugbo, who has scored 20 goals combined for both Roda JC and Cercle Brugge in 39 appearances across all competitions, admitted that he is hoping that his brilliant form over the last two seasons will eventually lead to a first team breakthrough at Chelsea.
Ugbo, who confirmed that The Blues have been monitoring his performances since his switch to Cercle, told HLN: “After every game there is contact with people from Chelsea, who let me know how they thought my performance.
“It is also very important for me to know that Paul Clement believes in me. His presence at Cercle was one of the main reasons why I chose to loan to this club. I do like those one-season loans, always ending up in a new environment and you have to prove it.
“But my ultimate ambition remains to one day get my full chance at Chelsea and be able to play football at Stamford Bridge. I’ve been there since I was nine and have always dreamed of breaking through.”
